LivingWorks START

Learn life-saving skills online in just 90 minutes

In just 90 minutes online, LivingWorks Start teaches trainees to recognize when someone is thinking about suicide and connect them to help and support. LivingWorks Start teaches valuable skills to everyone 13 and older and requires no formal training or prior experience in suicide prevention.

When you sign up for LivingWorks Start training, you'll learn a powerful four-step model to keep someone safe from suicide, and you'll have a chance to practice it with impactful simulations.

The YES Partnership is pleased to announce the launch of LivingWorks Start, an online interactive suicide prevention training program that will give an individual skills and knowledge to keep family, friends, co-workers, and others safe from suicide.

LivingWorks Start is designed to equip people with the knowledge and skills to recognize when someone is experiencing thoughts of suicide.  Trainees are equipped to ask a person directly, engage them in a brief conversation to show they are taking the issue seriously, and then connect them to someone who can help, such as a counselor, mental health professional or a crisis line.  As more and more people are trained we will develop a “safety network” in Tuolumne County, making it more likely that someone’s distress will be identified and they can be kept safe.  I hope you will consider enrolling in LivingWorks Start and recommend this training to others who are interested in preventing suicide.  The YES Partnership is able to offer the LivingWorks Start program free of charge thanks to a grant from the Tuolumne County Behavioral Health Department through Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) funding.

The Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools Office is also offering LivingWorks Start to all school personnel and high school students in the County.  Together we are working to make Tuolumne County a suicide-safe community.
